How this score was built

Each indicator scores 2, 1 or 0. A pillar is the points earned over the points available; the overall score is the weighted sum. Every source below is public — check any of them yourself.

A card paying up to 4% back in XRP that steps down to 2% after 90 days, with the best terms behind a $99.99 subscription tier.

Our assessment

The Uphold Card pays up to 4% back in XRP and is unusual for paying rewards in a major asset rather than a platform token. The structure is where the caution lies: the 4% rate drops to 2% after 90 days, and the best terms sit behind a paid Elite tier.

An introductory rate, described as a rate

A promotional 4% that halves after 90 days is a 2% card with a three-month bonus. That is a legitimate offer and a misleading headline, and it is the single most important thing for a prospective user to understand before comparing it against a flat-rate competitor.

What the Elite tier actually buys

The 4% rate, 0% FX and free ATM withdrawals are all gated behind a $99.99 tier. At 2% ongoing, recovering $99.99 requires roughly $5,000 of qualifying spend before the subscription breaks even — before FX and ATM savings, which help if you travel and do nothing if you do not.

Where fifteen indicators failed

Terms, fee documentation, published rates, and cost documentation alongside the programme were all unreachable at conventional addresses, and so was a support resource. Fifteen zeroes out of twenty-five in a category where cost transparency carries 35% of the weight is what a 3.6 looks like.

Who it suits

The Uphold Card fits existing Uphold users holding XRP who spend enough to justify the Elite tier and understand the rate steps down. Anyone comparing on published terms will find far more to work with at Crypto.com, CoinJar or Plutus.

Frequently asked

Does this score rate Uphold Card's rewards?

No. Rewards and cashback change frequently and are not scored. The score reflects what a prospective cardholder can read before applying: programme page, fee documentation and terms.

Why is cost weighted so heavily for cards?

A card is a payment rail. Its conversion spread and fees are the product, so the rubric puts 35% of the weight on whether those are published and readable.

Is regional availability part of the score?

No. Our methodology excludes country availability from scoring entirely. Check the provider's own terms for where the card is offered.
