www.coinbase.com/card
A US-only debit card spending directly from a Coinbase balance, where the cost sits in the conversion spread rather than in a published fee.
Our assessment
The Coinbase Card is a US-only debit card that spends directly from a Coinbase balance. Its appeal is familiarity — no new account, no new app, no new custodian. Its weakness is that the cost of using it is not a published number.
The spread is the fee
Spending crypto from an exchange balance means a conversion at the point of sale, and the cost of that conversion sits in the spread rather than in a fee line. A card can advertise no monthly fee and still be expensive on every transaction. Reviewers consistently flag unclear spreads here, and our own check found no rate table at a public address.
Rewards are not the reason to hold it
Reward rates are customisable across assets but weak against the rest of this table, and there is no serious argument for choosing this card to earn. The argument is convenience for someone whose crypto already sits at Coinbase and who wants to spend a portion of it without moving anything.
The evidence picture
Six indicators failed outright — all in cost transparency — and nineteen more returned automated-verification blocks rather than content. The programme documentation exists; a person can read it after signing in. An outsider comparing cards cannot, and that is what this score records.
Who it suits
The Coinbase Card fits US Coinbase customers who want frictionless access to their balance and are not optimising for rewards or conversion cost. Anyone spending meaningfully should compare a 0% FX card and calculate the spread they are currently paying.

Frequently asked
Does this score rate Coinbase Card's rewards?
No. Rewards and cashback change frequently and are not scored. The score reflects what a prospective cardholder can read before applying: programme page, fee documentation and terms.
Why is cost weighted so heavily for cards?
A card is a payment rail. Its conversion spread and fees are the product, so the rubric puts 35% of the weight on whether those are published and readable.
Is regional availability part of the score?
No. Our methodology excludes country availability from scoring entirely. Check the provider's own terms for where the card is offered.
