A non-custodial instant exchanger with broad asset coverage and fixed or floating rates, typically settling in about two minutes — with compliance checks that appear on larger swaps.
Our assessment
ChangeNOW is one of the fastest instant exchangers in this comparison, typically settling a swap in around two minutes without an account. It supports both fixed and floating rates on most pairs and covers assets that regulated venues avoid, including Monero.
The rate is the fee
Instant exchangers rarely charge a visible commission. They quote a rate, and the difference between that rate and the market price is the revenue. This means comparing two exchangers on their stated fees tells you almost nothing — you have to compare the amount actually received on the same pair, at the same moment, which is why aggregators exist.
Fixed versus floating, and who carries the risk
A floating rate settles at whatever the market does while your transaction confirms; a fixed rate locks the quote and charges a premium for it. On a volatile pair with slow confirmations, the fixed rate is usually the cheaper choice despite looking more expensive. Neither is a trick — but the default is floating, and most users never make the decision consciously.
No account is not the same as no compliance
Enhanced checks apply on larger swaps, which is the standard model across this category: no verification for ordinary amounts, and a request for identity documents when an amount or a source address triggers a rule. The practical risk is a swap held mid-flight pending review, with funds already sent and no account to appeal from.
Who it suits
ChangeNOW fits users who want a quick swap between assets without opening an exchange account, and who keep individual amounts modest. Anyone moving size should use an exchange where the compliance conversation happens before the money does.
Frequently asked
Does this score mean ChangeNOW is trustworthy?
No. It measures what is published and reachable before use: the service, its terms and its documentation. Custody, routing and corporate structure are not tested by us.
Why do all providers score zero on corporate entity?
Because this class of service rarely publishes it. The indicator is identical for every provider in the category, so the comparison stays fair.
Are rates or spreads compared here?
No. Verifying quoted rates requires live transactions, which we do not perform. The rubric covers disclosure, not execution.
